Team Banquet & U.S. Classic Tickets

TEAM BANQUET — All boys’ and girls’ gymnasts who competed at least two meets during the USA Gymnastics or AAU season are invited to the 2013 Team Awards Banquet on Sunday, June 30 at noon at the Grand Ballroom in Country Springs in Pewaukee.

Gymnasts are free and may bring up to four guests at a cost of $15 each. The cost is the same regardless of age, with the exception of children ages two and under who do not need to pay. If you need additional guests, please inquire by e-mail to gymnastics@wildcard-gymnastics.com for availability.

The banquet will be a buffet of assorted pizzas, tossed salad, garlic bread and lemonade.

As with last year, we have the opportunity to purchase group tickets for the water park, to be enjoyed after the banquet. Water park tickets are an additional $16 per person. Gymnasts are not free for the water park. You do not need to purchase water park tickets to participate in the banquet. Adults wishing to enter the water park but not swim are $5 per person. You are responsible for your child at the water park. The water park is open from 2-6 p.m. for our guests.

Please RSVP (by e-mail to gymnastics@wildcard-gymnastics.com) to the banquet and provide payment for your guests by June 15.

U.S. CLASSIC — Once again, the country’s best women’s gymnasts will be competing at the U.S. Classic at the Sears Center in Chicago on July 27 at 6 p.m. Last year, Olympic team members Aly Raisman and Kyla Ross competed. Former Olympic team members Nastia Liukin and Chellsie Memmel also competed at the meet. Two years ago, Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Makayla Maroney and Shawn Johnson. This is your chance to see potential 2016 Olympic Team members.

We can get group tickets for the event for $30. These tickets will be in the lower level and are $45 if not purchased through our club. Like all events, all spectators, regardless of age, need a ticket. Please RSVP with number of tickets requested (by e-mail to gymnastics@wildcard-gymnastics.com) and provide payment by May 20. We will not be able to get additional tickets at the group rate or with our club after the deadline.

Wildcard Gymnastics WILL NOT be providing transportation. Families will be on their own to get to and from the Sears Center.

WISN is coming to Wildcard on Tuesday, April 30

Apparently Wildcard is a finalist for the WISN A-List.  Supposedly, they are most likely coming to film a 2 min. segment at Wildcard around 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Like the last time we were on TV, we have no idea what this is going to entail.  Something fun, lighthearted and probably us teaching Kidd O’Shea how to do some gymnastics.

If any of our Fast Track, Gold Bugs, Jr. Gold Bugs, and Girls’ and Boys’ Team gymnasts are available for this hour, that would be great.  Again, we have no idea what to expect, but he said if we had kids here flipping in the background, that would be great.  I can not guarantee that your child will be on television or that they are even for certain coming, but it sure sounded like they are.

If you are able to come, please be here around 10:30 a.m.  Feel free to call 262-923-7418 email, or comment on the blog if you are able to come. Thanks!

AAU Nationals and Sokol National Meets

AAU NATIONALS: For those of you planning on competing at AAU Nationals, we need to have your payment for registration in by May 4. The deadline for registering for the AAU Nationals meet is the following week and late entering this meet is very difficult due to its competition size. If you plan on attending AAU Nationals, please let us know ASAP. The cost for AAU Nationals is $85.

AAU has updated its competition schedule, which is slightly different than what they previously announced. The following is its overview schedule (the daily schedule runs from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.):

  • Wednesday, June 12: Check-in (available every day)
  • Thursday, June 13: Girls’ Level 3, 4; Opening Ceremonies/Athlete Dance Party 8-9:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 14: Girls’ Level 3, 4, 5
  • Saturday, June 15: Girls’ Level 5, 7; Boys’ Level 3, 4
  • Sunday, June 16: Girls’ Level 7, 8, Open; Boys Level 3, 4

A session-by-session schedule will be available later in May.

For hotel arrangements and Disney theme park options through AAU’s travel provider, click here. You do not need to book your hotels or theme park tickets through this link, but there are some savings offered on Disney-owned and other Disney-area hotels. There are also some savings on Disney World tickets. These savings are unavailable through any other means. For example, an adult 7-day, park hopper ticket is regularly $367 and through this link its $306. Not all tickets  are discounted, however. A night at Disney’s All-Star Sports will normally run $150 per night before tax. Booking through this link, a night in All-Star Sports will be $95 per night before tax.

Ordinarily, we would be arranging a practice for those planning on competing at AAU Nationals, however, given the proximity of the end of school, we will not be arranging a practice.

SOKOL NATIONALS: The 2013 National Sokol Festival will be held in West Allis and Wauwatosa this summer and local area gyms have been given the opportunity to compete. Sokol is a national social and athletic organization with local chapters and they hold a national sports festival with competition in multiple sports. They have graciously allowed us to participate with their organization without becoming members. They use USA Gymnastics routines and will have competition for both boys and girls. The festival will be held June 25-29 with the gymnastics competition taking place at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis. The cost of this meet is $45. We need to have payment and your child’s intent to participate by May 10 to meet their deadline. If you wish to register after the deadline, the cost is $90. We recommend that all of our boys’ and girls’ team members in all levels (including optionals) participate in this meet.

The schedule for the competition is as follows (the descriptions are from the Sokol organization):

  • Thursday June 27: Male & Female Gymnastics, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Friday, June 28: Male and Female Gymnastics, 8 a.m.-noon
  • Saturday, June 29: Children’s Lower Level Gymnastics, 8:30 a.m.-noon
