Girls Team Practice Schedule, July 4-9

Due to the gym closure for the Independence Day holiday and with many families vacationing, the girls’ team schedule will be altered slightly over the next few days. The boys’ team will have a different schedule which will be posted later. The girls’ team schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, July 2: NO TEAM PRACTICE, West Allis Parade
Wednesday, July 3: Regular Team Practice
Thursday, July 4: NO TEAM PRACTICE, Brookfield/Wauwatosa Parades, Brookfield Family Fest
Friday, July 5: NO TEAM PRACTICE
Saturday, July 6: NO TEAM PRACTICE, TOPs Practice 9-11 a.m. for the new TOPs group, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for the old TOPs group
Sunday, July 7: NO TEAM PRACTICE
Monday, July 8: NO TEAM PRACTICE
Tuesday, July 9: NO TEAM PRACTICE, TOPs Practice from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for all groups
Wednesday, July 10: Team practice resumes on the regular schedule

Also, for those parents and gymnasts wishing to register for AAU Junior Olympics (July 31-Aug. 2 in Detroit), please note that the registration has closed, but the AAU has confirmed they will accept late registration. Additionally, the AAU is offering both old compulsory and new compulsory competition at the meet. The AAU said that gymnasts will be allowed to compete BOTH levels. Usually, gymnasts are limited to one competitive level. It’s a unique opportunity. All gymnasts are going to have had the same amount of time with the new routines, approximately a month and a half, so there will be no competitive disadvantage to competing the new levels and new routines. There may be an additional associated cost with this, but we’re hoping that it’s less that the regular registration fee.

The following gymnasts are registered for AAU Junior Olympics. Please let us know if there is an error and your child should be registered. Also, please advise if you’d like your child to compete both levels or just old or new. We will pass along what the anticipated fee is for competing both levels.

Bradyn Fowler — Old Level 4
Hallie Fowler — Open (Level 9/10)
Emily Grining — Old Level 3
Ella Johnston-Fodor — Old Level 3
Aaliyah Krause — Old Level 3
Nora Laughlin — Old Level 3
Izzie LaSpisa — Old Level 5
Mariyah Lee — Old Level 3
Norah Tait — Old Level 3

July 2nd Parade – West Allis

The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. sharp.  We will be lining up at 6:15 on 77th & Greenfield.  Our line-up number is 65.    The Parade route is 77th to Greenfield, to 70th Street then south on 70th and ending at Vet’s Park on 70th and Orchard.   There will be a judging stand at 75th and Greenfield.  There will be food, music, and kids’ activities until 10:00 p.m.   Please pick up your gymnast at Vet’s Park after the parade.  Wear your 4th of July leotard.  Don’t forget your sunscreen, water, tennis shoes, socks, and gloves.    This is a pretty short parade – but we could still use a few adults to help pull the wagons and hold the sign.

4th of July Parades

Tosa Parade – Jr. Gold Bugs, Gold Bugs I & II,  Level 3s & Level 4s,   Dragonflies, All Boys

Coaches:  Amy, Candace, Ashley E, Rae

 Brookfield Parade – Level 5s Level 6-10’s, Level 2s & Fast Track

Coaches:  Alie, Blain, Ashley S, Andrea

Tosa Parade – Parade starts at 9:00 a.m.  Gymnasts need to be lined up by 8:30 a.m.  Our Unit Number is Unit 89 in Area  C.  The parade runs from Mayfair Mall to 80th Street.  Please plan to carpool from the back parking lot at Longfellow Middle School at 8:10 a.m.  We will leave promptly at 8:15 a.m. If you are going to meet us at Mayfair, please enter off HWY 100 via Burleigh. Pick up your gymnasts at the end of the parade at the back entrance to the Longfellow Parking lot.  Please bring a large disposible water bottle that will be shared.

We will need about 6 parents to walk in the parade.  Any parents walking in the parade MUST wear a Wildcard Shirt.  4th of July shirts are available for $15.00.  Please purchase prior to the parade.  We can also use a couple of wagons for water bottles and people to help pull the wagons.  We would definitely like to limit the number of adults in the parade, so that it doesn’t detract from the gymnasts. Jr Gold Bugs may have 1 parent walk along (unless otherwise cleared with staff).

Gymnasts should wear comfortable tennis shoes and socks.  Please try to bring some stretchy “magic” gloves (the winter ones).  I have some, but not a lot!  If you have extras, bring some to share.  Gymnasts will wear them for cartwheeling, etc

Please pick up your gymnasts promptly and arrange a way for you to pick up your vehicule if it is parked at Mayfair.

There is a camera and judging station near Sendiks.  Please encourage your gymnast to keep moving!  And Smile!

Please meet your gymnast at the end of the parade route at the intersection of Norhardt and Civic Drive.    You may have to walk a short distance because streets will probably be closed.

Sokol Opening Ceremonies / Hales Corners Library / Level 3-5 Compulsory Clinic

SOKOL National Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies

Wildcard has been invited to participate in the SOKOL National Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies.  We have a number of gymnasts competing in the gymnastics competitions, so we feel honored to be asked to march / perform at the Opening Ceremonies. We know this is somewhat last minute, but it is a regular practice night for most of the gymnasts, so we expect that they would come.

We would like to showcase all of our competitive levels (Level 2 (this includes Fast Track) through Level 9 and Andy/West because they are the only boys competing).  We will be doing a minute long mash-up off all of our show routines and the Optional team will do the majority of their new show routines.  They will wear the new Exhibition leotards (Andy and West will wear the competition singlet and shorts).  Please have hair done nicely.

The Opening Ceremonies will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa on Tuesday, June 25.  We need the gymnasts to be at the rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. to go through the routine and how they want things done.  There may be a small entry fee for spectators.  Hart Park is located at 7300 W Chestnut St in Wauwatosa (73rd and State Street).

Due to the fact that we want all of our girls’ team at the Opening Ceremonies to perform, there will be no practice that night.  Gold Bugs will need to make up on a different night.

Compulsory Clinic for Level 3-5

Also, please don’t forget about the compulsory clinic on Thursday and Friday for all Level 3 – 5s.  We are very excited about this.  We will be running charges to accounts for those kids who have notified us about coming/show up on Thursday.  Don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes, 2 practice leotards, toiletries, and a swimsuit/towel for water activities (weather permitting).  You may send along a snack or money for the vending machine; however, snacks/water will be provided along with dinner on Thursday and breakfast and lunch on Friday.  The clinic starts at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.  It’s going to be really fun!

Hales Corners Library Show

Our first official show of the summer is on WEDNESDAY, June 26 at the Hales Corners Library located at 5855 S. 116th Street.  The show starts at 10:30 a.m. so please arrive around 9:45 -10:00 a.m. to stretch / warm-up.  Team members should wear the new Exhibition leotards, boys should wear their competition singlet and Jr. Gold Bugs should wear the 4th of July.  The show will last about an hour.  There will be no morning practice on WEDNESDAY, June 26.

Compulsory Clinic for New Level 3, 4 & 5

During our recent trip to Florida to learn the new compulsory routines, we were able to collaborate with coaches from CSA in Whitewater and J.E.T.S. in Minnesota.  We have arranged for their gymnasts and coaches to join us in learning/teaching the new routines to our gymnasts.

The girls will have the opportunity to focus on the new floor and beam routines and have multiple coaches working on the specific positions and shapes designated in the routines.  After seeing these presented, we can tell you that they are much harder than the previous routines. There is a significant emphasis on the artistry which is going to be very challenging for the younger gymnasts!

This compulsory clinic will be held Thursday, June 20th and Friday, June 21st at Wildcard.  The clinic will start at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday and go through until 2:00 p.m. Friday.  The gymnasts attending the clinic will be spending the night at the gym for some team bonding, fun, and wind-down time.  The other gymnasts who are coming from CSA and J.E.T.S will be spending the night too.

Due to the complexity of the new routines we are strongly recommending that each compulsory gymnast attend this camp because this is really the only time that we will be teaching the routines in full.  After that, a private lesson will need to be scheduled to learn the routine.  The cost will be $50 for Wildcard gymnasts (the out-of-town teams are paying $100 per gymnast) and will cover all gym fees, coaches’ fees for the guest coaches, lodging and food for each gymnast.  Wildcard will be covering 100% of the actual clinic fee.

The Optionals are also being extended the invitation to work with the J.E.T.S. coaches and work with other Optionals.  This is a great opportunity for them to have some team bonding and a chance to train with some new gymnasts/coaches. The cost for Optionals will be $25.

Again we want to reiterate that this clinic will be extremely important for your gymnast to attend.

Please feel free to contact Amy or Alie with any further questions.  Please make sure to register for the clinic in advance.

2013 Girls’ Fall Meet Schedule and Meet Fees

The 2013 Girls’ Fall Meet Schedule is:

Aug. TBD — WILDCARD PRESEASON MEET — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Sept. 14-15 — at Midwest Twisters (Oak Creek) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Sept. 28-29 — at Walworth County (Elkhorn) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Oct. 5-6 — at M&M (New Berlin) — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Oct. 19-20 — at CSA (Whitewater) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Oct. 26-27  — WILD WILD WEST CLASSIC  — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, OPEN
Nov. 9-10 — at Salto (Waukesha) — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Nov. 16-17 — at GymTastics (Watertown) — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Dec. 7-8 — Level 3, 4, 5 State Meet (Mequon) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Dec. 14-15 — LEVEL 2 STATE MEET (Brookfield) — Level 2

Home meets are listed in bold. Schedule subject to change.

Meet Fees

Level 2: $185 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, meet registration for four meets and preseason meet, state meet entry, state head tax)
Level 3: $435 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, meet registration for seven meets and preseason meet, state meet entry, team entry fees, state head tax)
Level 4/5: $450 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, meet registration for seven meets and preseason meet, state meet entry, team entry fees, state head tax)

If for some reason a Level 3, 4 or 5 gymnast doesn’t qualify for state, their state meet entry will be transferred to the 2014 Wildcard Cruise Classic.

Meet fees will be paid in three installments, on July 10, August 10 and September 10.  Meets fees are typically due a month in advance and it takes time to get the gymnasts USA Gymnastics and AAU registrations.  As a result, the paid in full deadline is earlier than the final installment deadline.  The installment fees are:

Level 2: $65, $60, $60
Level 3: $145, $145, $145
Level 4/5: $150, $150, $150

For those of you on autopay, these will be run automatically unless you otherwise chose to pay prior to the deadline. For those not on autopay, your gymnast will not be registered for any meets until you have met the financial obligation. There will be no guarantee that your gymnast will be allowed entry into a meet should you not pay your meet fees on time.

We do our best to keep our costs low. Our team tuition prices are easily the lowest in the area among USA Gymnastics-competing clubs. However, meet fees are something that we do not set and have no flexibility in this issue.
