Updated Girls’ Meet Schedules; Level 7, 8, 9 Meet Fees

The girls’ Levels 2-5 have an updated schedule due to the addition of a clinic for optional gymnasts on one of the dates that was selected for a meet. As a result, we need to shift our meet schedule slightly for two meets to avoid that weekend and to avoid competing on more than three consecutive weekends. Please note the updated schedule, which is still subject to change.

Remember, the first installment of meet fees for the Level 2s ($65), Level 3s ($145), Level 4s ($150) and Level 5s ($150) is due Monday, July 15. The Levels 2-5 meet schedule is as follows:

Sept. 14-15 — at Midwest Twisters (Oak Creek) — Levels 3, 4, 5

Dec. 7-8 — at State Championships (Mequon) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Dec. 14-15 — State Championships (at Wildcard) — Level 2

The Level 7, 8 and 9 girls schedule is tentative at this point and as always is subject to change:

Oct. 26 — Wild Wild West Classic — AAU Levels 7, 8, Open
Dec. 21-22 — at Hawaiian Pineapple Classic (Schaumburg, Ill.) — Levels 7, 8, 9

(note the possible President’s Day competition date)
Mar. 2 — Wildcard Cruise Classic — AAU Levels 7, 8, Open
Mar. 8-9 — at Mississippi River Vcn. Classic (Dubuque, Iowa) — Levels 7, 8, 9
(note this meet may shift to be LGA Lucky Invitational in Waukegan, Ill.)
Mar. 23-24 — at State Championships (Mequon, Wis.) — Levels 7, 8, 9
Apr. 10-13 — at Region 4 Championships (Grand Forks, N.D.) — Levels 8, 9

Level 7, 8, 9: $775 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, seven regular season meets, USAG and AAU state entry fees … does not include transportation to Cancun or any other transportation to meets … should a gymnast qualify for Regionals or Westerns, Wildcard will cover the entry cost, but not the transportation fee).

Meet fees can be paid in four monthly installments on August 15 ($195), September 15 ($195), October 15 ($195), November 15 ($190). Meet fees may be paid in full in September instead of installments.

We apologize for all the travel, but there are only five Optional Level meets schedule for Wisconsin in 2014. We are doing one of those, the second typically has us compete on Friday because we are local, the third is local but is crazy expensive and the fourth and fifth are in Green Bay and Wisconsin Dells respectively, farther than all but one of the stateside meets we have on the schedule. Plus, we always feel scoring is more fair and favorable when we compete out of state.

Spring Level 2 meet information will come out later this year.

Region 4 Clinic: Additionally, optional level gymnasts will have the chance to take part in the Region 4 Clinic held at Scamps Gymnastics in Kenosha on Oct. 12-13. The cost for this clinic is $150 and must be paid by Aug. 1. We had one gymnast attend the clinic last year and it was very much worth the cost. Gymnasts, however, are selected by a sliding criteria and aren’t guaranteed participation. Entry fees will be refunded if gymnasts are not selected.

AAU National Championships: Two other opportunities exist for AAU National level competition for all girls gymnasts and are not included in any level’s meet fees. Those meets are:

June TBD — at AAU Age Group Championships (Disney Resort, Fla.) — Levels 2-Open
July 24-Aug. 3 — at AAU Junior Olympics (Des Moines, Iowa) — Level 2-Open

The cost for each of these meets is $85. We highly encourage all optional level gymnasts to do AAU Junior Olympics in 2014.

Also, for those parents and gymnasts wishing to register for AAU Junior Olympics (July 31-Aug. 2 in Detroit), please note that the registration has closed, but the AAU has confirmed they will accept late registration. Additionally, the AAU is offering both old compulsory and new compulsory competition at the meet. The AAU said that gymnasts will be allowed to compete BOTH levels. Usually, gymnasts are limited to one competitive level. It’s a unique opportunity. All gymnasts are going to have had the same amount of time with the new routines, approximately a month and a half, so there will be no competitive disadvantage to competing the new levels and new routines. There may be an additional associated cost with this, but we’re hoping that it’s less that the regular registration fee.

The following gymnasts are registered for AAU Junior Olympics. Please let us know if there is an error and your child should be registered. Also, please advise if you’d like your child to compete both levels or just old or new. We will pass along what the anticipated fee is for competing both levels.

Bradyn Fowler — Old Level 4
Hallie Fowler — Open (Level 9/10)
Emily Grining — Old Level 3
Ella Johnston-Fodor — Old Level 3
Aaliyah Krause — Old Level 3

We will need about 6 parents to walk in the parade.  Any parents walking in the parade MUST wear a Wildcard Shirt.  4th of July shirts are available for $15.00.  Please purchase prior to the parade.  We can also use a couple of wagons for water bottles and people to help pull the wagons.  We would definitely like to limit the number of adults in the parade, so that it doesn’t detract from the gymnasts. Jr Gold Bugs may have 1 parent walk along (unless otherwise cleared with staff).

Gymnasts should wear comfortable tennis shoes and socks.  Please try to bring some stretchy “magic” gloves (the winter ones).  I have some, but not a lot!  If you have extras, bring some to share.  Gymnasts will wear them for cartwheeling, etc

Please pick up your gymnasts promptly and arrange a way for you to pick up your vehicule if it is parked at Mayfair.

Sokol Opening Ceremonies / Hales Corners Library / Level 3-5 Compulsory Clinic

SOKOL National Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies

Wildcard has been invited to participate in the SOKOL National Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies.  We have a number of gymnasts competing in the gymnastics competitions, so we feel honored to be asked to march / perform at the Opening Ceremonies. We know this is somewhat last minute, but it is a regular practice night for most of the gymnasts, so we expect that they would come.

We would like to showcase all of our competitive levels (Level 2 (this includes Fast Track) through Level 9 and Andy/West because they are the only boys competing).  We will be doing a minute long mash-up off all of our show routines and the Optional team will do the majority of their new show routines.  They will wear the new Exhibition leotards (Andy and West will wear the competition singlet and shorts).  Please have hair done nicely.

The Opening Ceremonies will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa on Tuesday, June 25.  We need the gymnasts to be at the rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. to go through the routine and how they want things done.  There may be a small entry fee for spectators.  Hart Park is located at 7300 W Chestnut St in Wauwatosa (73rd and State Street).

Due to the fact that we want all of our girls’ team at the Opening Ceremonies to perform, there will be no practice that night.  Gold Bugs will need to make up on a different night.

Compulsory Clinic for Level 3-5

Also, please don’t forget about the compulsory clinic on Thursday and Friday for all Level 3 – 5s.  We are very excited about this.  We will be running charges to accounts for those kids who have notified us about coming/show up on Thursday.  Don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes, 2 practice leotards, toiletries, and a swimsuit/towel for water activities (weather permitting).  You may send along a snack or money for the vending machine; however, snacks/water will be provided along with dinner on Thursday and breakfast and lunch on Friday.  The clinic starts at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.  It’s going to be really fun!

Hales Corners Library Show

Our first official show of the summer is on WEDNESDAY, June 26 at the Hales Corners Library located at 5855 S. 116th Street.  The show starts at 10:30 a.m. so please arrive around 9:45 -10:00 a.m. to stretch / warm-up.  Team members should wear the new Exhibition leotards, boys should wear their competition singlet and Jr. Gold Bugs should wear the 4th of July.  The show will last about an hour.  There will be no morning practice on WEDNESDAY, June 26.

Compulsory Clinic for New Level 3, 4 & 5

During our recent trip to Florida to learn the new compulsory routines, we were able to collaborate with coaches from CSA in Whitewater and J.E.T.S. in Minnesota.  We have arranged for their gymnasts and coaches to join us in learning/teaching the new routines to our gymnasts.

The girls will have the opportunity to focus on the new floor and beam routines and have multiple coaches working on the specific positions and shapes designated in the routines.  After seeing these presented, we can tell you that they are much harder than the previous routines. There is a significant emphasis on the artistry which is going to be very challenging for the younger gymnasts!

This compulsory clinic will be held Thursday, June 20th and Friday, June 21st at Wildcard.  The clinic will start at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday and go through until 2:00 p.m. Friday.  The gymnasts attending the clinic will be spending the night at the gym for some team bonding, fun, and wind-down time.  The other gymnasts who are coming from CSA and J.E.T.S will be spending the night too.

Due to the complexity of the new routines we are strongly recommending that each compulsory gymnast attend this camp because this is really the only time that we will be teaching the routines in full.  After that, a private lesson will need to be scheduled to learn the routine.  The cost will be $50 for Wildcard gymnasts (the out-of-town teams are paying $100 per gymnast) and will cover all gym fees, coaches’ fees for the guest coaches, lodging and food for each gymnast.  Wildcard will be covering 100% of the actual clinic fee.

The Optionals are also being extended the invitation to work with the J.E.T.S. coaches and work with other Optionals.  This is a great opportunity for them to have some team bonding and a chance to train with some new gymnasts/coaches. The cost for Optionals will be $25.

Again we want to reiterate that this clinic will be extremely important for your gymnast to attend.

Please feel free to contact Amy or Alie with any further questions.  Please make sure to register for the clinic in advance.
