Sokol Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies at West Allis Central

Due to the weather, the Sokol Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies will take place at the West Allis Central Field House, located at 8516 W Lincoln Ave. in West Allis. The schedule will remain the same. Please drop off your children by 5 p.m. for rehearsal. We will supervise your children until the end of the ceremonies, which will be around 8:30 p.m.

There may be concessions, so you might want to send your child with a few dollars, but you don’t need to. We don’t know the exact schedule of when we will perform. The kids should be free to go once we are done with our show. Please text Alison (414-737-1457), Blain (414-737-1458) or Amy (414-303-5195) when you are ready to pick up your child.

Admission is $16, so we recommend that you not stay. You are certainly welcome to stay, but be aware of the cost.

Sokol Opening Ceremonies / Hales Corners Library / Level 3-5 Compulsory Clinic

SOKOL National Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies

Wildcard has been invited to participate in the SOKOL National Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies.  We have a number of gymnasts competing in the gymnastics competitions, so we feel honored to be asked to march / perform at the Opening Ceremonies. We know this is somewhat last minute, but it is a regular practice night for most of the gymnasts, so we expect that they would come.

We would like to showcase all of our competitive levels (Level 2 (this includes Fast Track) through Level 9 and Andy/West because they are the only boys competing).  We will be doing a minute long mash-up off all of our show routines and the Optional team will do the majority of their new show routines.  They will wear the new Exhibition leotards (Andy and West will wear the competition singlet and shorts).  Please have hair done nicely.

The Opening Ceremonies will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa on Tuesday, June 25.  We need the gymnasts to be at the rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. to go through the routine and how they want things done.  There may be a small entry fee for spectators.  Hart Park is located at 7300 W Chestnut St in Wauwatosa (73rd and State Street).

Due to the fact that we want all of our girls’ team at the Opening Ceremonies to perform, there will be no practice that night.  Gold Bugs will need to make up on a different night.

Compulsory Clinic for Level 3-5

Also, please don’t forget about the compulsory clinic on Thursday and Friday for all Level 3 – 5s.  We are very excited about this.  We will be running charges to accounts for those kids who have notified us about coming/show up on Thursday.  Don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes, 2 practice leotards, toiletries, and a swimsuit/towel for water activities (weather permitting).  You may send along a snack or money for the vending machine; however, snacks/water will be provided along with dinner on Thursday and breakfast and lunch on Friday.  The clinic starts at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.  It’s going to be really fun!

Hales Corners Library Show

Our first official show of the summer is on WEDNESDAY, June 26 at the Hales Corners Library located at 5855 S. 116th Street.  The show starts at 10:30 a.m. so please arrive around 9:45 -10:00 a.m. to stretch / warm-up.  Team members should wear the new Exhibition leotards, boys should wear their competition singlet and Jr. Gold Bugs should wear the 4th of July.  The show will last about an hour.  There will be no morning practice on WEDNESDAY, June 26.

Compulsory Clinic for New Level 3, 4 & 5

During our recent trip to Florida to learn the new compulsory routines, we were able to collaborate with coaches from CSA in Whitewater and J.E.T.S. in Minnesota.  We have arranged for their gymnasts and coaches to join us in learning/teaching the new routines to our gymnasts.

The girls will have the opportunity to focus on the new floor and beam routines and have multiple coaches working on the specific positions and shapes designated in the routines.  After seeing these presented, we can tell you that they are much harder than the previous routines. There is a significant emphasis on the artistry which is going to be very challenging for the younger gymnasts!

This compulsory clinic will be held Thursday, June 20th and Friday, June 21st at Wildcard.  The clinic will start at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday and go through until 2:00 p.m. Friday.  The gymnasts attending the clinic will be spending the night at the gym for some team bonding, fun, and wind-down time.  The other gymnasts who are coming from CSA and J.E.T.S will be spending the night too.

Due to the complexity of the new routines we are strongly recommending that each compulsory gymnast attend this camp because this is really the only time that we will be teaching the routines in full.  After that, a private lesson will need to be scheduled to learn the routine.  The cost will be $50 for Wildcard gymnasts (the out-of-town teams are paying $100 per gymnast) and will cover all gym fees, coaches’ fees for the guest coaches, lodging and food for each gymnast.  Wildcard will be covering 100% of the actual clinic fee.

The Optionals are also being extended the invitation to work with the J.E.T.S. coaches and work with other Optionals.  This is a great opportunity for them to have some team bonding and a chance to train with some new gymnasts/coaches. The cost for Optionals will be $25.

Again we want to reiterate that this clinic will be extremely important for your gymnast to attend.

Please feel free to contact Amy or Alie with any further questions.  Please make sure to register for the clinic in advance.

2013 Girls’ Fall Meet Schedule and Meet Fees

The 2013 Girls’ Fall Meet Schedule is:

Aug. TBD — WILDCARD PRESEASON MEET — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Sept. 14-15 — at Midwest Twisters (Oak Creek) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Sept. 28-29 — at Walworth County (Elkhorn) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Oct. 5-6 — at M&M (New Berlin) — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Oct. 19-20 — at CSA (Whitewater) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Oct. 26-27  — WILD WILD WEST CLASSIC  — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, OPEN
Nov. 9-10 — at Salto (Waukesha) — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Nov. 16-17 — at GymTastics (Watertown) — Levels 2, 3, 4, 5
Dec. 7-8 — Level 3, 4, 5 State Meet (Mequon) — Levels 3, 4, 5
Dec. 14-15 — LEVEL 2 STATE MEET (Brookfield) — Level 2

Home meets are listed in bold. Schedule subject to change.

Meet Fees

Level 2: $185 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, meet registration for four meets and preseason meet, state meet entry, state head tax)
Level 3: $435 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, meet registration for seven meets and preseason meet, state meet entry, team entry fees, state head tax)
Level 4/5: $450 (includes all USAG/AAU memberships, meet registration for seven meets and preseason meet, state meet entry, team entry fees, state head tax)

If for some reason a Level 3, 4 or 5 gymnast doesn’t qualify for state, their state meet entry will be transferred to the 2014 Wildcard Cruise Classic.

Meet fees will be paid in three installments, on July 10, August 10 and September 10.  Meets fees are typically due a month in advance and it takes time to get the gymnasts USA Gymnastics and AAU registrations.  As a result, the paid in full deadline is earlier than the final installment deadline.  The installment fees are:

Level 2: $65, $60, $60
Level 3: $145, $145, $145
Level 4/5: $150, $150, $150

For those of you on autopay, these will be run automatically unless you otherwise chose to pay prior to the deadline. For those not on autopay, your gymnast will not be registered for any meets until you have met the financial obligation. There will be no guarantee that your gymnast will be allowed entry into a meet should you not pay your meet fees on time.

We do our best to keep our costs low. Our team tuition prices are easily the lowest in the area among USA Gymnastics-competing clubs. However, meet fees are something that we do not set and have no flexibility in this issue.

Girls’ Team Warmups

Team Warm-Ups

* Team warm-ups are mandatory for any gymnast competing in 2013, 2014 or the Spring of 2015.  Fast Track, Jr Gold Bugs and Gold Bugs I & II may order warm-ups too even if they don’t plan to compete yet.  The cost of the warm-up with pants is $175.  All competing gymnasts must have a full warm-up. (The Level 7 – 9 team is allowed to replace the warm-up pants with the capris offered.)  Warm-ups are ordered on a two-year cycle.  We will not be ordering team warm-ups again until the Summer of 2015.

*Warm-ups must be ordered online at http://coachsassistant.gtmsportswear.com/wildcardgymnastics no later than June 20th.  You may customize your gymnast’s warm-up with his/her name on the jacket and pants.  Please remember, that if your child has a common name, you may want to put your last initial on the warm up too.  The warm-ups are in the Wildcard Gymnastics Mandatory Team Warm-up Locker.  Be sure to click on the Girls’ sizes for youth sizes!!!  You are also able to customize your child’s name in rhinestones or put a name on the pant leg.

*Be sure to check out the Fan Locker for parent apparel as well (t-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts and more)! Go to http://coachsassistant.gtmsportswear.com/wildcardgymnastics?lockerId=4462  or click “Fan Locker” from the warm-up order page.  Show support for your favorite team and favorite Wildcard gymnast!  If there’s something you want to see in the locker room, let us know!  Many of these make great gifts!

Check your gymnast’s mailbox for a form detailing this information and your chid’s size.  We worked very hard to size the gymnast’s appropriately so please order the size listed on your form.  We have sized the warmups to last for two years.  Please DO NOT change the sizes!  Let us know if you have any questions!

We will be closing out the warmup locker room as of June 20th so that gymnasts will have their warm-ups before competition season!

Elm Grove Memorial Day Parade

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

Parade Date:            Monday, May 27th, 2013

Reporting Time:        Please arrive between 10:00-10:15 a.m.    Most people will be arriving earlier, but since we will have small kids, I think we can stall a bit. Last year we waited an hour after start time!!!

Parade Start Time:  10:30 a.m.

Reporting Location:  Elm Grove Village Park  (last year we were at the far end of the parking lot)

Drop Off Location:  The Footbridge on Legion Drive  (Legion Drive is between North Ave and Juneau), just West of 124th street.  (The end of the route is the Elm Grove Village area).

*  Park entrances will be closed to ALL except parade vehicles.   Please drop off parade participants at the Footbridge on Legion Drive that will be demarcated by a large, yellow ‘Drop Off Here’ sign.  This is the shortest distance to the parade staging area.

** There is NO parking or prolonged stopping near the footbridge.   Please drop off quickly and continue moving.

As in the past, the 1.2 mile parade route will begin at the Village Park and end at Wall Street off of Elm Grove Road.   Unless your vehicle is part of your act, there will be NO PARKING available at Village Park.   There will be parking available at the end of the parade route in the lots behind the Park and Shop.  This leaves your vehicle at the end of the parade route for an easy exit.   You may want to carpool and have people park near the end of the route.

The route is:  North on Legion, East on Elmhurst Pkwy, South on Church St, West on Watertown Plank, South on Elm Grove Rd, East on Wall St ending at Park n Shop.   We will gather the kids near the parking lot of the M&I Bank/BMO Harris Bank (hopefully!) right at the end of the route.  Please pick up your gymnast there!!

Link to the parade route map and area:

http://www.elmgrovewi.org/DocumentCenter/View/741

–       Wear your 4th of July leotard and have your hair/makeup done nicely.  (PS – the Dollar Store has some really cute sparkly headbands and bows in red, white, & blue).  Boys can wear a Blue or Red Wildcard shirt with navy shorts.  Don’t forget sunscreen, tennis shoes and socks, and your stretchy magic gloves for tumbling.

–       We will need 3-4 wagons for carrying water and 4-6 parents to pass out brochures, hold the sign, help with water.  Please sign up with Amy or Alie.  If you do walk in the parade, you must have on a Wildcard t-shirt.

–       The only kids that may ride in a wagon if too tired will be the JR Gold Bugs.  One parent per JR Gold Bug may walk in the parade but you must wear a Wildcard T-shirt.  Please purchase one for $15.00.  We would like to discourage the use of strollers during the parade unless absolutely necessary.

–       Each gymnast should bring a water bottle to share.  You may want to freeze part of it to keep it cold during the parade.  These will be community water bottles.  There will not be time during the parade for gymnasts to look for their own personal water bottles.

–       Please wear your leotard and gloves, shoes.  Do NOT bring extra supplies with you.  There will be no one to carry/hold them for you.

–    All Team to attend: Jr Gold Bugs, Gold Bugs I & II, Fast Track, Boys Team, Level 2-10 Girls
