Phase 1: Wildcard Re-Opening Procedures Beginning May 18th, 2020

Entry: Gymnasts will line up at the main door (maintaining 6’ distances).  Gymnasts will have their temperature taken with a no-contact thermometer.  Any students with temps over 99 degrees will not be allowed to enter the gym.  Please keep gymnasts home if they have a temperature or are feeling ill in any way.  Parents that enter the gym must wear a mask in common areas at all times.  Gymnasts will sanitize their hands upon entering the facility.  Please see the schedule to know when your gymnast(s) scheduled practice time is.  Each gymnast is only allowed to come at their scheduled practice time, there are no exceptions.

Warm-ups: Team gymnasts will be broken into groups with no more than 15 kids in a particular area at a time while doing our best to keep each kid 6 feet apart at all times.  Gymnasts will warm up in different areas, and designated waiting areas will be established.  Upon entry each group and individual will be assigned an area for warm-ups.

Events:  There will be no more than 10 students at an event and each will be spread out to have her own balance beam, bar station, etc.  Gymnasts will help wipe down/sanitize equipment after their event has concluded.  We will attempt to rotate so that at least two events are open at a time (to dry and alternate use).  There will be sanitizing equipment at each major event area in the gym, gymnasts will be required to help sanitize their station/piece of equipment.  In addition, gymnasts will be asked to wash their hands/use hand sanitizer upon rotating to another event/using other equipment.

Water:  Students MUST have their own water bottles.  Water will be available for purchase if gymnasts forget and will be charged to the family account.  Gymnasts are NOT to use the water fountains and are allowed NOT share water bottles with other gymnasts.  No SNACKS will be allowed at this time.

Washing Hands:  Students will be encouraged to wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer.  Sanitizer stations will be set up around the gym and at each event.  Coaches will do their best to enforce each student to wash their hands after each event.

Staff:  Staff greeting gymnasts at the door or doing temperature checks will wear masks.  Masks will be worn when in close proximity of a child or while spotting a necessary skill.  Spotting will be done only when necessary for the safety of the gymnast.

Facility Ratio:  A 20,000 sq foot facility allows for 80 athletes at a time! (we are 25,000 sq ft!). We are keeping this well under the amount for the entire summer! (See schedule with approximate number of kids).  The 40 X 40 foot floor allows for approximately 40 gymnasts at a time.  Again, we are keeping to no more than 15 in Phase 1.

Exiting:  Gymnasts will exit out the side parking lot entrance.  A coach will walk gymnasts to the door and watch the students walk to their vehicle safely or to a parent who is picking them up.

Apparel:  Gymnasts should be dressed in their leotards, ready for practice. We encourage gymnasts to leave all other clothing with parents in the car as not to clutter or bring in outside germs.  Shoes can be left near cubbies.  All gymnasts should have their grips, personal tape and a labeled box (closable tupperware container) with their names on it for chalk.  We will provide the first week’s worth of chalk.  After that, additional chalk will be available for purchase for $5 a block. Each block should last the gymnast approximately 2 weeks.  Gymnasts should not share chalk at this time.  Gymnasts will bring their chalk boxes to bars with them and will be encouraged to rotate bar stations with their boxes.  These items should come back and forth to the gym each day with the gymnast.  Anything left at the gym will be quarantined and sanitized for 48 hours.

Ventilation: Dock doors/windows open will be open during all practice times to help ensure active air flow throughout the gym.

Spectators:  Parents are asked to drop their gymnasts at the door and wait until the gymnast’s temperature has been tested and he/she is allowed to enter the building.  However, due to recent Safe Sport guidelines, we cannot restrict parents from watching practices.  We ask that all parents wear masks in common areas and sanitize when entering the facility.  Seating will be reduced to approximately 50% capacity allowing for chairs to be 6 feet apart.  Please, no food in that area and if you bring a drink, please dispose of it when you are done.

Supplies:  We are asking that each family donate a bottle of hand sanitizer, clorox/microban wipes or lysol/microban disinfectant spray.  We understand that these are in high demand right now but want to do everything we can to keep our gymnasts safe.

Between Class Procedures:  Coaches will be helping to sanitize equipment, common areas, and themselves between each group of kids entering the gym.

Nightly Procedures:  Coaches and gymnasts will help sanitize the equipment and common areas that are used each day.  The gym will be sprayed nightly with disinfectant and cleaned diligently by staff and management.

Privates Lessons:  Are now available within Phase 1 of reopening.  Private lessons are to be conducted outside of team practice hours (3:00PM-8:15PM Monday-Friday) -Meaning, privates will be offered Monday- Friday 8:00AM- 2:30PM, Saturdays 1:30PM-8PM and Sundays 8AM-4PM.  Times and dates must be communicated with the individual coach conducting the private lesson in order to adhere to their schedule.  Below is a contact info with coaches names and contact information.  All payments for private lessons are to be paid in full to Wildcard Gymnastics and will be distributed through payroll accordingly.  All privates, regardless of the coach, will be one hour at a $60 rate with a $20  going to the gym.  Gymnasts and coaches are required to wipe down all equipment they use at each event at the end of the hour.

We encourage you to reach out if you have any questions and we are willing to make accommodations after the first week and we know what we are dealing with.  We appreciate your support and are looking forward to having your kids back in the gym!!  We want this to be a great experience for all and first and foremost is the safety of your gymnast.  This is going to be a fluid transition and there may be updates/changes made based on numbers of gymnasts, newly release protocols, etc.  Please bear with us as this has been an unprecedented event!!

Studio Director Accounts and Email!

So apparently Studio Director (our Registration system) deleted all inactive students (so anyone that had not had activity on their accounts since the shut down); hence the reason you didn’t receive an email. Your child is no longer registered on the team tab. What I need you to do, is please re-register your child and let me know so I can move them to the appropriate team tab. For example, Emily G hasn’t made a payment so the system deleted Emily G. Her family account still exists but you need to make a new participant account for her…sorry for the inconvenience. This is necessary if you plan to receive communication from us and to have your account current for your gymnast to return.

This was the email sent on May 14th…for those of you that did not receive it.

Hello and long time no see,

We hope this email finds you and your family well and in good spirits.  I know our kids are bouncing off the walls.  Over the last couple of months we have really missed working with your children at Wildcard Gymnastics.  We have patiently been waiting for the appropriate time so that we can return to working out in small groups.  Because of the State Supreme Court decision last night, as of now, Wildcard can open the doors.  Rest assured, we do not take this lightly and are by no means rushing back into things.  As of now, we are considering how limiting the number of individuals in our facility will work.  We can assure you that we are looking at implementing a strong regiment of social distancing (one person on the equipment/in the area at a time), and sterilizing the equipment in between each use.  USAG has made recommendations for the guidelines to adhere to in order to make these practices as effective as possible.  We will also be able to offer private lessons at a different rate than monthly team fees.

At this time, as we consider our options, we ask our Team Families to help us understand where they stand on a return to some level of workout at Wildcard Gymnastics: before June, during the month of June, or possibly at a later date.  We ask you to consider your daily schedule so that we can coordinate groups at different times.

Please respond  let us know what you and your family are thinking.  We appreciate all the things our families have helped us to accomplish and we hope to see you in the future.

Sincerely,

Ben & Amy Grining

Lastly, We are  hoping to post Phase 1 of the Girls Team schedule that will start this Monday.  Phase 2 will begin June 15th.  Feel free to contact Amy if you have any questions or concerns or need to make alternate arrangements.  We ask that you do your best to adhere to the Phase 1 schedule because it will limit the number of gymnasts in the facility at the time.  We will also have a new team waiver that needs to be signed, and all gymnasts need to be registered in the Studio Director the first day they attend practice.  Please attempt to update your accounts.

We are planning Recreational classes starting as of Saturday, June 13th which will run through Saturday, July 25th.   The second session will run 4 weeks.  Watch the website for more info.

Privates Lessons will be available – we will have a google doc sign up for those as well.

We will update more info on the meet season, etc. as it becomes available.
We will be glad to have our gymnasts back!  We are taking necessary precautions to implement new procedures and protocols to keep our gym families safe!

OPEN GYM UPDATE – Closed Fri/Sat evening

We will be closing Friday and Saturday evening OPEN GYM until further notice.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

As of right now, all Recreational classes, Team and Preschool Open Gyms will continue to run.  With the large number of students off of school, we may limit Monday/Friday Open Gym to the first 75 customers if need be.  In addition, look for some additional OPEN GYM times during the day in case your child needs to get in some aerobic activity.  IF there are any updates, check the website and Facebook page.

As always, use your own discretion.  Please don’t send sick children to the gym.  Stay healthy!

Urgent Update: COVID-19

To Our Wildcard Gymnastics Community:

We understand that many are concerned about the health and safety of athletes amid the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak and are seeking information about potential cancellations and the reactions to coronavirus concerns.

Because coronavirus is a rapidly evolving global health issue that is affecting geographic areas differently, it is challenging to provide a blanket statement that will remain constant over the coming weeks. That said, we wanted to share that we will continue to monitor the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and coordinate with local health officials for guidance and updates.

For now, Wildcard Gymnastics will remain open and our spring meet this weekend will continue as planned. We will continue to follow the recommendations of our local health departments, including reminding parents to keep gymnasts home if they are ill and promoting healthy behaviors to all of our gymnasts, families and community members.

While we know potential cancellations and disruptions are not ideal, the health and well-being of our athletes and families must be our top priority. We appreciate the community coming together and understanding should this be necessary.

Our highest priority is keeping our gymnasts, families, coaches and community as a whole safe – to help increase awareness, here are some helpful resources:
CDC advice: https://www.cdc.gov/…/2019-…/about/prevention-treatment.html
WHO Advice: https://www.who.int/…/novel-coronavirus-2…/advice-for-public
WHO’s Guidelines for Mass Gatherings: https://www.cdc.gov/…/mass-gatherings-ready-for-covid-19.ht…
WHO’s Hand-Washing Steps: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IisgnbMfKvI

We have an amazing gymnastics community and appreciate all of you! We will continue to provide updates as we receive more information or if new developments occur.

Sincerely,

Wildcard Gymnastics

Parent Volunteers Needed

Parents,

We are currently looking for parent volunteers who are willing to stay after practice each night to help boost our current sanitation practices. We would like to set up four parents each night.

To sign up to volunteer please click this form.

We are also asking parents to promptly pick up their child after practice. Please do not send your child to practice if they are symptomatic and encourage your child to practice safe hygiene – washing hands before and after practice.

Thank your for your cooperation as we begin to deal with the current health crisis. Please watch for an upcoming post containing more details concerning our policies during this time.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

AAU Central Districts and Regionals–Need Response ASAP

AAU Central Districts is being held April 24-26, 2020 at the UW Health Sports Factory in Rockford, Illinois. We must petition our gymnasts in to the meet because we are not attending the AAU State Championships in Wisconsin because it conflicts with USAG Regionals. We MUST register by March 9th, so we NEED TO KNOW ASAP!! Gymnasts have to have competed in at least 1 AAU meet (if competing at the home meet, your gymnast is all good). This is open to levels 2 and up. Cost is $100 due by March 2nd.

In addition, I need to know who would like to compete at AAU Regionals (also held at the UW Health Sports Factory) on May 8-10th. Cost will be $150 per gymnast. This payment will be due April 1st.

PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM TO LET US KNOW IF YOUR GYMNAST WILL BE COMPETING IN ONE OR BOTH OF THESE MEETS.  If you choose to let us know at a future date, there will be an additional late fee added onto the meet fee, along with the possibility of your gymnast not being able to compete.

Upcoming AAU Schedule
March 14 & 15 – AMKM (AAU)
March 27, 28, 29 – USAG Level 6-10 State Meet (Franklin) $125 (Due 3/1)
April 17, 18, 19 – USAG Level 8-10 Regionals (Bettandorf, IA) $175 (Due 3/29)
April 24, 25, 26 – AAU Central Districts (Rockford) $100 (Due 3/1)
May 8, 9, 10 – AAU Midwest Regionals (Rockford) $150 (Due 4/1)
June 17-21 – AAU Nationals (Savannah, GA) $200 (Due 4/15)

Carnaval Meet Prep/Friday Practice

We are going to need a lot of help this week getting the gym ready for our meet on Sunday! We’ll be moving things around and setting up while practice is happening.  We are hoping to be finished by the end of practice on Friday.

Friday we are going to have a different practice schedule.

Levels 2/3/4 – 4:30p-6:30p
We are going to events at 4:30pm!  We will not go back to a missed event. Practice will end at 6:30pm. Please pick up your child immediately after practice! Level 2-3 will only be allowed in the gym if their parents are here helping. Level 4 gymnasts are allowed to stay as long as they are helping. Any gymnasts here while the upper gymnasts are practicing need to be helping. They can not be running around for safety reasons.

Levels 5-9 630p-830p
We are aiming for an 8:30pm end time, but it may need to be more like 9-9:30pm

Tentative set up plan:
Wednesday – WE NEED MUSCLE!
Move beams
Move tumble track
Concessions – Set up as much as possible
Judges and Coaches room – set up as much as possible

Thursday – WE NEED MUSCLE!
Move bleachers and chairs
Moving any other equipment
Final touches to gym/start decor

Friday –
Decor/Judges tables/Scoring table
Vacuum Gym
Wipe down bars areas
