Ugh! This has been an extremely tough call since it started raining so late – and is now seemingly clear…however, Ben did go to the zoo and scout it out – there is still standing water and puddles and the radar shows pop-up showers that will be continuing all afternoon. Since they do not have somewhere else to put us indoors, we cannot put the mats and equipment on wet ground. We are canceling the performances for tonight. Sorry for any inconvenience. We were hoping to attend. Enjoy your night off.
NO PERFORMANCES TONIGHT!
Tosa Night Out – Hi all, I’m hoping it clears up, but if it the ground is still pretty wet by 3:00 p.m. – we will NOT be headed to the zoo. We can’t set up in the rain. They are still holding the event, rain or shine, but if we can’t put the mats down, we will not be able to perform. 😦
Gymnasts will have the night off if we don’t have the show.
August 10th – We are NOT participating in the State Fair parade either, as they were not able to fit us in. We WILL have regularly scheduled practice. If you already have plans to go to the fair, then have fun! But get a good night’s sleep…(See below)
August 11th – FOX 6 !! I will have more info soon, but plan to be here for the Fox 6 morning segments (by 6:30 a.m.???) until about 10:30 a.m. I would like to show case our Girls’ Team, Boys Teams’, Parkour and preschool. Come dressed in Wildcard leotards/clothing. All gymnasts should plan to attend!!
Dear Xcel gymnasts and families,
We are in full preparation mode for the Xcel 2016-2017 season. Last year, all Xcel gymnasts had the same bar, beam, and floor routines. We have been working on new bar and beam routines during practice. We would like to design more detailed and individualized floor routines – so Jessica & Amy are offering privates for Xcel gymnasts in order to choreograph routines for $65 per routine. See the sign up sheet across from the front desk. The routines are choreographed to music, so music will have to be chosen ahead of time and brought in for the private session. There are certain requirements needed and the benefit of having a coach choreograph routines is to ensure the routine will meet all the requirements. If you choose not to do this, then the routines from last season will be used. The Wild Wild West meet, October 15 & 16 , will be a preseason meet for the Xcel team so we would need to have routines completed before then.
You may have heard from your gymnast that they are not advancing to the next level. Please know that completing a season does not guarantee advancement. The decision was made not on the girls’ performance last season, but in an attempt to strengthen the team so we are competitive with other Xcel teams. It also builds confidence so that your gymnast is more aggressive, stronger, and prepared. Although the girls had a very successful first season, they will be even more successful under the same level. This is a common practice even with our compulsory and optional teams. The girls should not at all feel discouraged by this. This really does make the team and individual gymnast stronger. If there are any questions regarding this, please feel free to see me (Coach Beth).
Below is the 2016-17 Xcel meet schedule. Please note that gymnasts are expected to attend all meets.

The summer is already coming to an end but we still have more summer exhibitions to attend. There has been a lack of participation from our Xcel team at these shows. We like to show off all of our teams. Please keep in mind that being a part of any Wildcard Gymnastics team involves participation in our events (exhibitions, parades, volunteering at competitions…). Please be sure to check the blog for dates and times. We have two shows this week – Tues and Weds! Please plan to attend! There will be no Xcel practice on Wednesday, as all gymnasts are to be at the exhibition. Xcel gymnasts and parents will be expected to help with set-up for the Wild Wild West meet as well as donate specific food items and help with the meet. Look for more info coming soon.
Please continue to check the blog : www.wildcard-team.com . “Friend” Wildcard on Facebook so you stay up to date on all necessary information.
Coach Nadiya found some excellent videos about the USAG routines – showing correct positions and terminology. Please have your gymnast take a look at these as we are almost a month out before competition!!
