2021 AMKM Gymnastics Shine Bright Invite- January 9th & 10th

***Ages: Ages are determined by the age a gymnast is on the day of competition.

***Session Numbers: There is a max of 20 gymnasts per session.

***Spectators: 1 spectator is permitted per gymnast. (admission is included in the gymnasts registration fee, check-in for spectators and gymnasts will be at the door)

***Entry: Entry will be allowed in the main doors only.  Main doors will be marked.

***Exit:  Exit will be allowed out the awards room doors only.  Exit doors will be marked.    

***Competition: Competition will be in the gym at The Avenue.

***Awards: Awards will be held in the Arentz Ballroom at The Avenue.

***Coaches Room: A coaches room will be provided all weekend, located in the Widner Conference Room at The Avenue.  Individually packaged snacks, drinks & meals will be provided.

***Concessions: Pre-packaged concessions and drinks will be available for spectators to purchase all weekend.  Shout Outs & Raffle Baskets will also be available.     

***Covid-19 Guidelines:  Masks are required for all spectators at all times.  Masks are required for gymnasts during all times, except for when competing.  The gym and awards areas will be cleared and cleaned prior to the next group entering.  Current local Covid-19 guidelines will be followed.  If additional updates are needed, they will be provided as they are available. 

***Chalk: We encourage gymnasts & coaches to bring their own individual chalk, spray bottle and grip brush.  Additional chalk will be available if needed.

***Hand Sanitizer: We encourage gymnasts & coaches to bring their own individual hand sanitizer in addition to the sanitizing stations we will have around the facility.

***Drinking Fountain: Our drinking fountain is closed for drinking, but the bottle filler is accessible.

Level 4 & up: 3-5 pm. Bring a lunch or $$ if you plan to stay in between.

Out one more day! No word from WE energies so going to cancel tonight! Happy New Year! See you in 2021.

We are going to cancel AM practice Weds morning (go play in the snow!)…We will plan for evening practice but keep you posted. This goes for Boys and Girls Team (& Fast Track) .

Due to an electrical outage, practice is cancelled for tonight. We plan to resume as normal tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I will be registering for the Infinite Meet on 12/30. The charge is $100, please pay by Jan. 8th. (Tentative Schedule will be 9-11 a.m. for Compulsories – Level 2-5; 11-2 p.m. Optionals – Level 6-9).

The Midwest Harley Meet payment will be run 12/29. Please make sure if you are registered to make a payment (if you haven’t already). Cost is: $175 for Levels 2-5; $200 for Levels 6 and up.

There IS Open Gym on Weds (12/23) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Team Gymnasts (Fast Track, L2-9) are welcome to attend. Cost for Team is $10. Open to the Public – $15. Please wear a mask and bring a water bottle. Pre-registration on the website (use the Open Gym Tab) is recommended.

We are doing a “SAFE” mini-holiday party during practice. If you want to send treats, please send things that are individually wrapped: Store bought rice krispy treats, mini-candy bars, string cheese, mini bags of chips or cookies, juice boxes, soda, etc.

We will plan to still work out so wear your holiday colored leotards and if you want to wear your pjs or onesies or ugly sweaters on top, that’s fine! Bring your water bottle too – things get heated lol!

Levels 4-9 – please bring your Secret Santa gifts.

We are asking that all TEAM gymnasts purchase a pair of Wrist Weights to be used on their ankles/wrists at times.

For Fast Track/Level 2/Level3s – please only purchase 1-1.5 lb weights.

Level 4-9 – Please purchse 2-3 lb weights

• You may want to purchase a back up pair just in case. Gymnasts should have their names on them and keep them in their lockers or gym bag.
• These are not overly expensive – I found them recently at Marshalls, TJ Max, 5 below, Goodwill (though the Goodwill ones are not overly cheap! You pay about the same as you do for new ones at Marshalls, etc.).
• While you are looking, think about purchasing a mid-weight thera band for the lower level gymnasts and a thicker strength for levels 4-9. Again, multiples are helpful in case they break or get lost. Please write your gymnast’s name on the items.
• We plan to use these for most practices.
• If you can find a small enough wrist weight cuff, the gymnasts can use these too for additional strengthening. But the weights being used for ankles are the immediate wish!
• Please have these by Jan 4th.
• A good stocking stuffer lol?

PS – if anyone knows of anyone getting rid of weight equipment for cheap, please let me know. I would love some Bossu Balls, Battle Ropes, extra Kettle Bells, Weight bars…
