Wildcard Gymnastics Team News

There IS Open Gym on Weds (12/23) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Team Gymnasts (Fast Track, L2-9) are welcome to attend. Cost for Team is $10. Open to the Public – $15. Please wear a mask and bring a water bottle. Pre-registration on the website (use the Open Gym Tab) is recommended.

We are doing a “SAFE” mini-holiday party during practice. If you want to send treats, please send things that are individually wrapped: Store bought rice krispy treats, mini-candy bars, string cheese, mini bags of chips or cookies, juice boxes, soda, etc.

We will plan to still work out so wear your holiday colored leotards and if you want to wear your pjs or onesies or ugly sweaters on top, that’s fine! Bring your water bottle too – things get heated lol!

Levels 4-9 – please bring your Secret Santa gifts.

We are asking that all TEAM gymnasts purchase a pair of Wrist Weights to be used on their ankles/wrists at times.

For Fast Track/Level 2/Level3s – please only purchase 1-1.5 lb weights.

Level 4-9 – Please purchse 2-3 lb weights

• You may want to purchase a back up pair just in case. Gymnasts should have their names on them and keep them in their lockers or gym bag.
• These are not overly expensive – I found them recently at Marshalls, TJ Max, 5 below, Goodwill (though the Goodwill ones are not overly cheap! You pay about the same as you do for new ones at Marshalls, etc.).
• While you are looking, think about purchasing a mid-weight thera band for the lower level gymnasts and a thicker strength for levels 4-9. Again, multiples are helpful in case they break or get lost. Please write your gymnast’s name on the items.
• We plan to use these for most practices.
• If you can find a small enough wrist weight cuff, the gymnasts can use these too for additional strengthening. But the weights being used for ankles are the immediate wish!
• Please have these by Jan 4th.
• A good stocking stuffer lol?

PS – if anyone knows of anyone getting rid of weight equipment for cheap, please let me know. I would love some Bossu Balls, Battle Ropes, extra Kettle Bells, Weight bars…

Lucky Invite – Waukegan, IL March 12-14 Payment due Dec 28th. Cost Level 3-10 $200

Badger State Games (USAG/AAU) Marshfield, WI April 10-11 Fees to be determined.

The Altius Meet is full and we cannot get into it…if anyone is interested, we could switch to the Kalahari Dells Meet hosted on January 8-10. Meet fees would be due Dec. 7th. It is a USAG meet.

The cost would be: Level 2-5s $175 and Levels 6-9 is $200. There are rooms blocked at the Kalahari – ask for the High Five Meet Room block and discount before Dec. 24th.

Please let Amy know if you are interested in going ASAP – 414-303-5195. If there are less than 5 kids interested, we will not go. (Honestly, I’m okay either way!)…This would be the end of our USAG meets though for the season. We may need to contemplate a Dual Meet or a Virtual Meet in order to have two USAG meets under our belts – Optionals…we could look into the Harley invite (Feb 12-14 same as above prices) or the other Dells Meet (Jan 29-31 – same prices as above). Let me know which you would prefer or not at all. Optionals – I need this info from you especially!!!

Turners is looking for a logo design for the National Turner Virtual Gymnastics Invitational (that we are planning to participate in – cost is only $25; Date TBD). The design will be adapted for a 3 inch circular patch that will be given to all meet participants and used for a logo. It cannot be gender specific because there are both male and female competitors.  It should not be too many colors as it is a patch. Obviously the name of the meet is a problem, but it could be done in a shorter form – NTVGI ? .  After receiving their entry for the meet, the winner will receive a $50 prize for their submission (so winner must be registered for the meet). The deadline for submissions is December 10th. The winner will be selected by the organizing committee for the meet.

Registration for AMKM and Lake Geneva are due tomorrow. Please let Amy know if you are planning to compete and make a payment.

AMKM is Jan 9-10 in Sparta, WI. This is an AAU meet (an AAU membership is needed – cost is $25). Cost to compete is $150. (This is usually a fun meet and we all stay at the same hotel in Sparta; it is also a qualifier for AAU State/Nationals/Regionals).

Lake Geneva Classic is Jan 15-17. We will only be doing USAG for this meet. Cost for Levels 2-5 is $145; Cost for Level 6-9 is $175.
