Wildcard Gymnastics Team News

In an effort to make things easier on our families, we have decided to run the meet fee installments on July 15, Aug. 15, and Sept. 15. This way they won’t run the same days as tuition. Please be sure to let us know if you plan to pay in full all at once so that we can mark your file accordingly.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up for Nationals 2022. It will be in Springfield, IL. Dates of June 28 – July 3. We are looking at possibly staying at the Route 66 Convention Center.

We are looking forward to showcasing our amazing athletes in the area Independence Day parades! Please be sure to wear your assigned Parade Attire along with (preferably black) knit stretchy “magic” gloves (the cheapy winter ones), tennis shoes, and sunscreen. Bring a squeeze top/squirtable top water bottle (partially frozen). We will need about 6 parents per parade to help (pass out brocures, waters, hold the banner, etc.) – please let Amy know if you are interested. Adults must have a Wildcard t-shirt on. (We should have adult sizes available tonight!).

July 2nd – West Allis parade

Friday, July 2nd  -We will be walking in the West Allis parade.  We will be lining up at 6:30pm, number 78. We will be lined up along 77th Street between Greenfield and Pierce (probably closer to Pierce).  The parade runs along Greenfield Ave. east to 70th St. and proceeds south to National, ending at Veterans Park. There is a little festival after the parade. Please promptly pick up your child at the end of the parade (bring some money lol).  We will have ALL-Team practice 9-noon on Friday!!! (All Levels Fast Track/Gold Bugs, L2-10)!! NO OPEN GYM.

July 3- Brookfield Parade

Entrance will only be allowed from Gebhardt Road. For participant drop-offs, enter the EAST drive to Brookfield Central on Gebhardt Rd. and utilize the driveway in front of the school. Please drive SLOWLY for everyone’s safety! Those dropping off participants must then EXIT the high school by traveling NORTH to North Avenue, or PARK behind City Hall OR in the overflow parking area north of the Safety Building.

Please report to the ORANGE group staging area between 9 and 9:15 am. We are group 44. Please pick up your gymnast near Yo-Mama’s at the end of the parade.

NO PRACTICE or SATURDAY MORNING CLASSES

July 5th – Wauwatosa Parade

We are # 21 in the beginning of the parade this year!! We will need to meet in front of the library/Longfellow by 8:15 a.m. The parade runs down 76th and North Avenue to just before Mayfair Mall. Please drop off your gymnast and meet us at the end of the parade – usually we pull off just South of the mall parking structure. (Best suggestion is park near the end of the route). Again, don’t forget sunscreen, tennis shoes, stretchy gloves and a water bottle. I will need about 6-8 parents for this parade.

NO EVENING PRACTICE OR CLASSES!!

As of Monday June 28th,  Wildcard Gymnastics will make our mask policy optional.  Parents should make decisions based on what is best for their family.  Any questions or concerns contact us directly by calling 262-923-7418, email, or stop in at the front desk.

Due to low attendance this week from half the team competing at Nationals we will be ending practice at 7:30 tonight.

We will remind kids as they come in to practice and call home if need be

Due to the increase in the number of athletes using cell phones and camera inside the locker room (which is a huge violation of SafeSport practices and gymnast safety!) and the fact that gymnasts are asking parents to leave early without permission during practice hours- we are asking that gymnasts “turn in” their cell phones to the front desk before entering the locker room/ cubbies.  

For safety reasons, starting June 24th 2021, your child must either leave their device with you or leave it at the front desk (which will be monitored at all times).  If an athlete does need to contact a guardian during practice, they may but must ask a coach and do so at the front desk using the gym phone.  This is for the gymnasts safety.  It also allows us to be aware if the gymnasts are leaving early. 

If your child is planning to leave early, please let the coaches or front desk know before or at the start of practice by coming in or calling the front desk.  
In addition, please monitor your child’s social media and talk with them about what is appropriate.  No Wildcard gymnast should be posting Tik Toks or videos from the gym or about the gym without permission (from me).  We also do not want gymnasts posting things that are inappropriate or condescending to others while wearing gymnastics apparel, etc.  It is important that as Wildcard Gymnasts (ambassadors of our gym) that we are perceived in a positive light!

I’d love to have the Level 4s stay until 8:30 p.m. so we can work on getting those Level 4 and 5 skills. Please plan on having your gymnast stay!

*** For now, we are going to try to keep the 8:30 practice times for Levels 4 and up – however, on days that are 88 degrees or higher, we will re-evaluate staying until 8:30 p.m. (probably 7:30 p.m. finish). ****

I am excited to learn the new compulsory routines and head to Nationals! This will be a fabulous summer. We are getting closer to being mask free – We will give it another couple weeks and then aim to be Mask-Optional by July. As of now, we are not required to wear masks during the parades! Please see Amy or the front desk to pay for a 4th of July tank/shorts! There are still some available. (We are still waiting on the size 6s!).

Amy (and Ben) will be gone this weekend through next. Please text us if you need something! I know the kids are in capable hands! Happy Summer!

There will be no practice on 6/29 in the morning for Levels 4-9. There will still be practice in the evening from 4:30 – 8:30.

The 6 starred meets will be mandatory.  We will include 2 AAU meets for those who plan to complete AAU State/Regionals/Nationals.  There will be an additional $20 registration for all AAU athletes.  Meet fees do not include the State meet – this is an additonal fee and gymnasts must qualify to State.   Plus $63 USAG membership – email will be sent in July/Aug.   Meet fees and account balances must be current.  All gymnasts are expected to compete these 6 meets.  There are no refunds – but if your child can not attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

Level 2-5 gymnasts:  Cost is $650 per gymnast.

    Installments:

            3 installments of $217 – July 1st, Aug 1st, Sept 1st!!  

            If you do not have a credit card on file, please pay at the front desk prior to the 15th.

Optional Meet fees – approximately:  $1200

We will plan on 6 USAG meets and 2 AAU meets (not included in fees).  Meet fees do not include State, Regionals or Westerns.  There is an additional $20 fee for the AAU membership.  Plus $63 USAG membership – email will be sent in July/Aug. 

Level 2 and up can “pick up” additional Optional Meets at $150 per meet.

A waiver will not be required – please inform all. 

REVISED VENUE PARKING AND ENTRANCE INFORMATION.   We are asking that attendees allow extra time (approximately 30 minutes) to get in the building from the overflow parking lot.   For a bird’s eye view of the building with the layout of parking and overflow parking click this link – https://image.aausports.org/sports/gymnastics/2021/Nationals/WebsiteDocs/REVISED-Parking.pdf.  

• Thank you for your patience as we have had to modify our parking plan due to construction that is taking place in the convention center parking area.  Due to the number of parking spaces now available at the convention center, we will institute an overflow parking area plan.    The designated area shown on the site map link will be open parking spaces.  There will be parking attendants overseeing parking.  After the main lot fills, cars will be directed to the overflow lot.  Shuttles will be available, running constantly from the overflow lot to the front of the building for drop off, and bringing people back from the building to the overflow lot as needed.  As the main lot opens back up, as people flow out after a session, parking attendants will let cars in to park, and the cycle will repeat. 

• Drop off will be in Bryan Square for anyone who might need to quickly drop off the group and then park the car.   If the long walk will be an issue for some of your passengers, then do the following:

• As you approach the Convention Center and parking area on Savannah Harbor Parkway, stay in the left lane and proceed to the turnaround/drop-off area near the front of the facility.
• After dropping off your passengers there, you will go back on Savannah Harbor Parkway, passing the entrance to the parking lot, and then making a U-Turn so that you can get into the right lane(s) to enter the parking lot or be directed to the overflow lot.
• Additionally, the Convention Center plans to have golf carts and/or shuttles for those who must park farther away than planned (keep in mind that these may be limited).

REVISED COACH AND ATHLETE CHECK IN PROCEDURE – VERY IMPORTANT – NO PRECHECK OR CHECK IN OF INDIVIDUAL ATHLETES

Due to the unforeseen circumstances with parking availability at the Convention Center, we are modifying our check in procedures to facilitate quick check in of coaches in order to help ensure that you have a positive experience getting your athletes to the competitive area in a relaxed and timely manner – click on this link https://image.aausports.org/sports/gymnastics/2021/Nationals/WebsiteDocs/REVISED-Check-In-Procedure.pdf  for more information. All coaches and spectators should allow extra time to park and enter the venue.  No advanced check in of athletes will be required.    We thank you for your patience and understanding as we make the necessary changes so that our participants, spectators and coaches can be assured of a wonderful experience getting to the venue.

• Athletes will report directly to the competitive floor once their designated stretch time has arrived.  (They will no longer need to go to the check in area).  Athletes will not need their credential to enter the competitive area for their session.  They will need their credential to enter the venue on additional days of competition as spectators.
• Coaches are encouraged to arrive early enough to pick up athlete credentials, shirts, bags, and gifts for their athletes in the session – Amy will pick up their credentials, etc.

This process will alleviate crowding in the check in area and allow athletes extra time to get to the venue for competition.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.  Safe travels and we look forward to seeing you very soon.  If you cannot answer any questions that your parents might have, please send me the questions so that I can hopefully answer so that you will know the answer as well.
