Wildcard Gymnastics Team News

Gymnasts that were at practice today should have come home with their new exhibition and competition leotards. A couple things of note:

*COLD WASH AND HANG OR LAY FLAT TO DRY

*DO NOT USE WOOLITE OR BLEACH

*THE LONG SLEEVED LEOTARDS ARE ONLY FOR COMPETITION

*ATHLETES WERE ALL SIZED AT PRACTICE- THE LEOS FIT DIFFERENTLY, SO MOST WILL HAVE TWO DIFFERENT SIZED LEOS- if you have a sizing question, please bring the question, leo and athlete to Amy to discuss

Mondays & Fridays will be team spirit days! Wear Wildcard Apparel to practice: tanks, exhibition leos, purple leos, old competition leos, etc.

TAPE NOTE:

If your athlete is taped regularly. Please purchase a roll of tape at the front desk for $5. This roll will be kept in their locker and exclusively used for their own taping purposes. Should your athlete forget their roll of tape, one day of grace will be given before we automatically charge the account for a new roll. If you’d rather avoid tape and your athlete seems to be coming home taped often, we recommend talking to Amy about reusable braces.

There have been some requests for carpooling in the Fall. At some point, I could print up a list of Team gymnasts with phone numbers, addresses, emails and levels, if you are interested. If you would prefer your information NOT be provided, please let the front desk know!!!

Last Day of Morning Practice – 8/19

Last morning practice for Team – 8/19. This will also be the last Friday afternoon Open Gym too! (Reminder: No practice this Friday, 8/5.)

Friday & Saturday evening Open Gyms will begin in September.

Fall practice will begin 8/22.

Level 2s – Formerly Fast Track: M/W 4:30-7:30; F 4:30-8:30*

Level 3s: M/W 4:30-7:30; F 4:30-8:30

Levels 4-10: M/T/Th 4:30-7:30; F 4:30-8:30

• *Fridays may change to 4:30-7:30 on some days – due to competition, etc.
• August 15th – Meet fees for all Levels will run!! If you do not have a card on file, please pay in advance!!
• TBD: August 24th or September 11th – Judges Critic (Times TBD); Cost $30

There will be no practice this Friday morning, August 5. There will still be open gym from Noon-2pm.

Meet fees for all levels will be run on 8/15.

Fast Track through level 5, please be sure to sign up for private lessons if you missed the compulsory clinic. You can get a private lesson handout with prices and phone numbers at the front desk.

After going through a lot of our old stock, we found warm-up jackets, tank sets and backpacks!

Since we aren’t ordering warm-ups this year, if anyone is interested, we have:

Wildcard (teal/purple) tank/shorts sets $50

2021-2022 Warm-up jackets (last year’s!) $50

Old warm-up jackets (with names but could Cricket over!) – $20

We don’t have all sizes but we have many different sizes!

Thanks to all who completed the USAG registration. There are only a few families that have not. We will begin registering for the meets as of July 22nd. Please make sure your gymnast’s registration is done!

Reminder -the Compulsory Routine Clinic for Level 2-5 is SUNDAY, July 24th!! This is Mandatory to learn the routines – if your gymnast cannot attend, you will need to schedule a private lesson to learn the routines (cost $50).

Additional practices – the end of summer is creeping up – (Aug 19th is our last summer practice) – I am opening Tuesday and Thursday evening practices (4:30-7:30 p.m.) up to Levels 3 & 4 to work on their missing skills. This is in addition to the gymnasts’ regularly scheduled practices. Gymnasts still NEED to be coming to their regular practices!!!

Fast Track/Level 2s – Gymnasts really need to be at practice particularly Monday/Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesday/Thursday mornings are another great way to get ahead. Take advantage of these FREE practices during the summer.

Around August 1st, we will be deciding (based on skills), what level your gymnast will be competing. If she wants to compete her “new” level, they can’t be missing any skills!

We need to start teaching the routines!! We will hold the Compulsory Routine Clinic on Sunday, July 24th for Levels 2-5. (This includes Fast Track!). It will be at Wildcard.

9-11 a.m. Fast Track/Level 2

11-12:30 p.m. Level 3

1:00-2:30 p.m. Level 4-5

This is MANDATORY! If your gymnast cannot attend, you will need to schedule a private lesson with on of the coaches to learn the routines. It is important to attend because we will be working on them during practice! We will not “teach” the routine during practice; we will work on it but gymnasts can’t learn it just by attending their regular practice.

Optionals will be doing the meets in black.  Total meet fees are $1200.  Meet fee installments will be 3 installments of $400 due Aug 15, Sept 15, Oct 15.  (Many of the meets are asking for early registration hence the reason we need to start collecting earlier!)  If Optionals want to do AAU State/Regionals/Nationals, we may have to do some AAU/USAG in the same weekend. *Note – not all meets have been posted so this is based off the ones we have. We may plan to add Lucky in Illinois or other meets that pop up.

The AAU meets will be an  additional fee (approximately $150/meet) – look for a google doc to sign up for AAU Meets.  Gymnasts must have at least 3 AAU meets to compete at State/Regionals/Nationals.  There is a $25 AAU membership fee which will be charged if you register for AAU meets. Levels 2-5 looking to add extra competitions, you may register for the AAU Meets.  * It is highly recommended for Compulsory Level gymnasts (2-5) to do the AAU season! It’s a lot of fun but it is great to see all their progress! Ask if you have questions. Please watch for the Google form and fill it out in a timely manner. I know that the AMKM meet is due early! AAU fees will be about $150 per meet.
