AAU Nationals, Olympic Trials, Practices, Meet fees…

The Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions is here Friday, October 14th at 7 pm. I am not organizing group seats just because I will have enough to do with the meet so if anyone else wants to take that on, let me know. Optionals – If any of you are planning to attend, please let me know – I have a question for you. 🙂 Wishful thinking: Could we get the gym set up Thursday night / finishing touches on Friday morning – then all head to the Kellogg’s tour?? Who’s in?   http://www.kelloggstour.com/

SUMMER PRACTICES
Summer practice times are in full swing. Please let us know if your gymnast will be out of town. I will put a calendar on the wall in the office and the gymnasts/families should label it if they have plans to go out of town. We are having an overwhelming number of gymnasts missing from practice so there are too many coaches. We definitely understand it is summer and there are family vacations scheduled but this is also the time when we have achieve the most skills and work on routines. September 1st will come up VERY quickly!! Gymnasts missing skills will not compete until they have all of the skills necessary for the their level. Our goal for Wildcard gymnasts this year is to have all of the NEXT Level skills before the end of the September season. This way gymnasts are ready to try their new level in January during the AAU season.
* Don’t forget about the Hales Corner Library Show at 10:30 on July 13th. Meet at the library about 10:00 a.m to help with set-up and to get stretched. Wear your old exhibition leotards, unless our new ones are here! We will still have regularly scheduled evening practice for Levels 2, 3, 4 that night.

AAU Nationals – Opening Ceremonies Info & Athlete Registration

Athlete Registration – pick up credentials
* Registration starts 6/29 (W) from 12-6 pm.
6/30 Thurs 7:30 am – 4 pm
7/1 Fri 7:30 am – 2 pm
7/2 Sat 7:30 – 2 pm

* Everyone should plan to pick up their own credentials unless you NEED to arrange something else with AMY. Because not all gymnasts of the same Level are in the same sessions, it will be easier for all gymnasts to pick up their own credentials. Please note that this could take an additional 30 minutes; and we are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the meet. AAU intends to start sessions early if it is possible, so we recommend getting there early!!!

6/30 Thurs – Is Coach Ben’s birthday. He would like to invite all to come and hang out at dinner. Everyone is more than welcome. We are thinking Downtown Disney but we will have more details soon!

7/1 Fri is Opening CeremoniesMeet at 6:00 pm at the ESPN Giant Globe to walk in together; late comers will need to follow the directions below.  * We will wear our RED WISCONSIN T-SHIRTS and SILVER SHORTS (that will be delivered to Florida).  I will bring them to the gymnastics sessions and Friday night’s dinner – text AMY to make other arrangements.

The Celebration of Athletes Ceremony will be Friday, July 1, at 7 p.m. at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Josten Center. Athletes will need to report to the main entrance of Champion Stadium promptly at 6:30 to line up for the grand march in. The districts are divided by alphabetical order to line up on either the 1st or 3rd baseline outer concourse. This is a covered area with industrial fans and water stations. You should look for the lollipop signs with your district name. Coaches we will need your help, so please plan to have at least one representative line up with your team if at all possible. You should let your parents know that it does take some time to march in so many kids but we will do our very best to provide an enjoyable experience for all.

We will head to the 1st base Concourse (in this order): Central, Florida Gold, Iowa, Lake Erie, Michigan, Missouri Valley, New England, Ohio, Ozark, Pacific Southwest, Southeastern, Wisconsin

As the athletes march in, they will be seated in designated areas on the floor for the entertainment portion of the celebration. We will have performances which will include musical and vocals, acro national team performance, our very special guest speaker, and other special appearances. At the end of the celebration, district will be released one at a time to their coaches who can assist making sure athlete return to their parents.

Not sure where to meet but we can plan to meet at the Giant Globe again.
Amy’s cell: 414-303-5195

PS- I will have the WISCONSIN Leotards! They will be delivered to the district office in Florida and I will pick them up. Bring your Exhibition & Competition leotard just in case! If you are coming to dinner on 6/30 – I can get you your leotard then if you let me know. Expediting them pulled the cost up $10 but they are so cute and totally worth it.

Safe Travels! See you in Florida! Good luck Wildcard Girls & Coaches!

Wisconsin Leotards for Nationals…

So apparently they are offering a second order thru AAU Wisconsin to purchase the Wisconsin leotard, shorts and t-shirt for Florida. Now the hope is that they would definitley be here in time; we originally hadn’t received the info so Wildcard wasn’t able to send it out to anyone.

The hope would be that anyone that orders the Wisconsin leotard can wear it for competition at Disney; however if they aren’t here on time the plan is to wear long sleeves (or exhibition leotards if your gymnast doesn’t have a long sleeve). So we would most likely bring along all of the above to Florida.

I will try and put a rush order on it if everyone wants to purchase this one to wear in Florida…but if they don’t come in time we will wear or Wildcard leotards.

I must place the order tonight! So I need confirmation and payment ASAP. If anyone else is interested please let me know. The cost is $50.00. They are super cute! Red with sparkly Wisconsin and silver shorts. Ask Amy to see them!
We hope that everyone competing is ordering them!!!

Please email or call if you DO NOT want to order these for Florida, because I will plan to count everyone in!!!

Locker rooms, etc.

Gymnasts (and Parents) –
Please make sure if you are bringing money to practice for the vending machine, that your money or valuables are locked up! You are allowed to put a lock on your locker as long as you give Miss Amy your combination. Never show others your money, wallet, Ipod, etc. – we don’t want to encourage anyone to steal. Don’t forget to clean up anything you bring with you each night! Help keep our locker rooms neat.

With summer arriving, gymnasts (and coaches!) can get a little sweaty. Please remember to wear deodorant and wash your leotards. It is recommended to wear a clean leotard each practice night and to make sure you are taking your leotards home so they don’t get moldy and smelly in your locker! There will be extra spray deodorant in the bathroom, in case you forget, but be a champion and wear/bring your own. You can keep some in your locker too!

Please be drinking enough water as the warm weather causes gymnasts to sweat. Gymnasts need to rehydrate often and drink almost a full glass of water after practice. In addition, with the additional practice hours, make sure your gymnast is getting enough sleep and RESTING (not swimming!) during double practices!

Keep up the great work Wildcard! We are going to have a fabulous summer!
