West Allis Parade tonight – inclement weather details…. and Milkmen link

Hey all,

Hoping this rain clears up ( I know it’s wishful thinking) – West Allis will hopefully make an announcement by 3 p.m. – if it is just drizzling or on and off, we will probably still walk. If it is coming down hard, we will cancel. Please watch the blog and Facebook (I will try to email if I can). No practice tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for tonight and Thursday!!

Milkmen game – so far only one person has purchased tickets!! Gold star for that family lol! (Don’t worry – I haven’t gotten mine yet either!). I have heard that someone was having trouble with the link – so please let me know – but try this one first. Milkmen link.

Fast Track/Level 2 – Please remember that you should be in attendance at the Mock Meet on Sunday, 12-3 p.m. Please return your Team Contract too by Sunday.

4th of July Parade – Brookfield

We welcome you to this year’s Independence Day Parade. The parade will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024, 10:00 a.m.

« ENTRANCE WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED FROM GEBHARDT ROAD!  For participant drop-offs, enter the EAST drive to Brookfield Central on Gebhardt Rd. and utilize the driveway in front of the school (see enclosed map – staff will be on site to direct you). Please drive slowly for everyone’s safety! Those dropping off participants must then EXIT the high school by traveling NORTH to North Avenue, or PARK behind City Hall OR in the overflow parking area north of the Safety Building (see map).

« Please report to your designated area between 9:00 – 9:15 a.m. to confirm your placement.

« Your unit will line up with the     30   GREEN    group. Refer to the attached Staging Area map.

We encourage your group to carpool. Due to safety concerns and traffic flow issues, we encourage participants to utilize the DROP-OFF AREA in the front (south) drive of the high school.  PLEASE PROVIDE AN ESCORT FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN to take them to their line-up area.  You will NOT be allowed to drop off participants in the line-up area in the school’s back (north) parking lot.Otherwise, we ask that you park your car elsewhere and then escort your participant to their designated line-up area.

The parade will begin at Brookfield Central High School located at 169th and Gebhardt Rd., travel west on Gebhardt Rd. to Calhoun Rd., then north on Calhoun to North Ave., and west on North Ave. to Norhardt, south on Norhardt –  approximately 1.25 miles.  We usually meet up kitty corner from the frozen yogurt place. Pick your gymnast up on Norhardt.

Gymnasts – please freeze a squeezable water bottle half full and fill up the remainder with water in the morning.  Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!!  And deck yourselves out in patriotic head wear! Wear your Wildcard 4th of July tanks & shorts (or black shorts). Otherwise girls should have on red/white/blue leotards or Wildcard exhibition leotard. Boys – please wear you Wildcard shirts with black shorts. Don’t forget tennis shoes and socks AND your gloves for tumbling (those little stretchy magic gloves). You can order some from Amazon!

NO practice July 5th!! Have a great weekend!!

*** Reminder – Fast Track & Level 2 parents – Mock meet will be July 7th from 12-3 p.m. Please make every effort to be there (especially if your child has not completed!) They can wear their Leotards that they already have (Wildcard ones) or just another leotard. Parents are welcome to come and encouraged but there isn’t a ton of room so please don’t invite everyone under the sun! We will do a final mock meet before the actual meet season. Please be prompt. Gymnasts should have their hair neatly pulled up. No jewelry.

  • Please pick up your gymnast promptly at the end.
  • Girls should come prepared wearing their exhibition leotard or a purple leotard (or the red/white/blue tanks). Fast Track/Level 2 – Mini Mock Meet (Evaluation Meet)- July 7th

We are going to hold a little pre-season mock meet in order to check gymnasts’ readiness (more to prove to you that they ARE ready for competition!!!) on July 7th from noon-3 p.m. (It will probably not go that long, but I wanted to leave time for parents to ask questions, etc).  We are inviting Level 2 to give the girls a chance to perform their routines and to show the new Fast Track teams that even the 5 year olds can do it!   Plus there are several Level 2s that are new to competition so we thought it would be a good opportunity for them to participate in a practice competition.  If you need to review routines –  There is a link to the Level 2 USAG routines  on the blog.  Have the girls watch them several times.  There may be slight differences in presentation or finish positions but for the most part they are the same. We will be working on the routines in practice as well! Another opportunity for the girls to work on these routines/skills is on Tuesday and Friday mornings 9am-noon.  This is a regular practice (not open gym!).  We work on skills/routines and its good for the kids to see the other teams as well.  Your gymnast is highly encouraged to attend.  We run through the Dockhounds routines in the mornings as well since most of the team is there.  They are typically very productive practices and the gymnasts get to work with the other coaches too.  If your child needs to learn the routine and would do better in a one-on-one experience  – we can try to schedule a private lesson ($35-$50 per hour depending on the coach) – Private lessons are nice to work on routines and skills that might need more individualized attention than they can get in practice.

*** Please mark your calendar for July 7th and make every effort to attend, especially if your gymnast is one who isn’t certain that she wants to compete yet.  This will be a good introduction to how competition works and to see how much progress your gymnast has made.

** Reminders – Fast Track should come 7/1 and 7/3 – from 4:30-7:30 p.m. July 2nd (no evening practice) & July 4th (no practice) – due to the parades. July 5th No practice & No Open Gym. July 7th is the mini Mock Meet!!

Milwaukee Milkmen – July 14th Noon

Hey all, Because our Wildcard Gymnasts are so awesome, we have been invited to participate in the July 14th Milwaukee Milkmen Pre-Game show in Franklin (at the Rock). It is a 1:00 p.m game – please arrive no later than 11:45 a.m. Here is the link for purchasing tickets: https://fevo-enterprise.com/Wildcardgymnastics7

For Milkmen: We will access the Field via the main gates and head to the right side of the gates near the “Educators Fan Assistance” entrance. The kids will perform pre-game and then head to their seats with a parent. We may need some help loading and unloading the truck too. Wear Flip flops for easy on/off before and after the routine. Same apparel applies (see below).

Don’t forget to order your Dockhounds tickets for July 31st and August 3rd exhibitions.

July 31 – Dockhounds game 6:35 Game – ARRIVE BY 5:35 PM!!!

Aug 3 – Dockhounds game 6:05 Game – ARRIVE BY 5:05 PM!!!

For Dockhounds: Go directly to that gate by the first base side – before entering the grounds. Look for Ben or Amy. Have your tickets ready.

Gymnasts – should wear their exhibition (short sleeved leotard) & black shorts (if absolutely needed). Please have hair pulled back, competition style with a bow or scrunchie or some sort of matching hair accouterment. We would like gymnasts sporting Wildcard apparel in the stands. *If your gymnast does not have the exhibition leotard, please wear purple or any of the former Wildcard tank leotards. Some make up or glitter is fine – we don’t need a team looking like Lady Gaga. Flip Flops might be easiest!

Boys – Please wear a black Wildcard T-shirt and black shorts.

Parents – please show your Wildcard Spirit by wearing Wildcard apparel or purple! There’s lots in stock!

We will need help loading mats and getting them on and off the field. Gymnasts may stay to watch the game or leave with their families.
