Fast Track/Level 2 – Mini Mock Meet (Evaluation Meet)- July 7th

We are going to hold a little pre-season mock meet in order to check gymnasts’ readiness (more to prove to you that they ARE ready for competition!!!) on July 7th from noon-3 p.m. (It will probably not go that long, but I wanted to leave time for parents to ask questions, etc).  We are inviting Level 2 to give the girls a chance to perform their routines and to show the new Fast Track teams that even the 5 year olds can do it!   Plus there are several Level 2s that are new to competition so we thought it would be a good opportunity for them to participate in a practice competition.  If you need to review routines –  There is a link to the Level 2 USAG routines  on the blog.  Have the girls watch them several times.  There may be slight differences in presentation or finish positions but for the most part they are the same. We will be working on the routines in practice as well! Another opportunity for the girls to work on these routines/skills is on Tuesday and Friday mornings 9am-noon.  This is a regular practice (not open gym!).  We work on skills/routines and its good for the kids to see the other teams as well.  Your gymnast is highly encouraged to attend.  We run through the Dockhounds routines in the mornings as well since most of the team is there.  They are typically very productive practices and the gymnasts get to work with the other coaches too.  If your child needs to learn the routine and would do better in a one-on-one experience  – we can try to schedule a private lesson ($35-$50 per hour depending on the coach) – Private lessons are nice to work on routines and skills that might need more individualized attention than they can get in practice.

*** Please mark your calendar for July 7th and make every effort to attend, especially if your gymnast is one who isn’t certain that she wants to compete yet.  This will be a good introduction to how competition works and to see how much progress your gymnast has made.

** Reminders – Fast Track should come 7/1 and 7/3 – from 4:30-7:30 p.m. July 2nd (no evening practice) & July 4th (no practice) – due to the parades. July 5th No practice & No Open Gym. July 7th is the mini Mock Meet!!

Gymnasts will be learning the routine for these fun expedition experiences this Spring and early Summer. Go to the blog at www.wildcard-team.com to find the link to order tickets for all three games. Please fill out the google  form so that we know numbers and levels for choreography purposes. Closer to this summer, we will also send out a sign-up genius for volunteers.  All Gold Bugs, Fast Track, Boys Team, Dragonflies, and Girls Team members are invited! It is a lot of fun!!  Please plan to make it to as many shows as you can.

Parades:  We will be doing several parades this year.  Typically we do the Elm Grove Memorial Day parade, West Allis July 2nd Parade and the Brookfield Independence Day Parade on July 4th.  We will send details out as we get them and it will be posted on the blog at www.wildcard-gymnastics.com.  New gymnasts should wear Purple Wildcard Attire.  There is some selection in the pro-shop.  Consult the front desk if you have any questions.   See the official blog post for more info.

2024 Elm Grove Memorial Day Parade

BOYS’ & GIRLS’ TEAM, FAST TRACK, DRAGONFLIES & GOLD BUGS

Memorial Day Parade Details

Parade Attire: Tennis shoes with socks, (ideally, black) stretchy winter gloves to protect hands from the road, and Purple Wildcard Apparel or the Patriotic Wildcard set/leotard. We know not everyone has the Tank and Shorts set- some sizes are available in our pro shop, otherwise, we also have Patriotic themed leotards available. If nothing else, please wear purple or Wildcard apparel. Remember a water bottle (to pass) and sunscreen. You can wear red, white and blue gear but don’t bring a ton of extra things with because there will be limited spaces to carry extra items. *Be prepared for the weather!!

Parade Date: Monday, May 27, 2024              Parade Start Time: 10:30 am

Reporting Time: 8:45 am -9:15 am – Streets will close beginning at 9:15 and you will be unable to get through  after that time.

Reporting Location: Elm Grove Village Park, 13600 Juneau Blvd, Elm Grove, WI 53122

Drop off Locations: All drop offs before the parade will be at Elm Grove Park. All acts & participants must  arrive at the park on Legion Drive from the north. Vehicles will not be able to enter the park from Juneau Blvd.  There are two drop  off locations at the park.

********* The first location is at the footbridge located at the intersection of Legion and Elmhurst. There will be a  large “DROP OFF HERE” sign and Junior Guild Volunteers in neon safety vests to help direct you or  your child to the appropriate staging area. This is a great place to drop off young parade participants! There is NO PARKING or PROLONGED STOPPING near the footbridge.  We will try to have older gymnasts or parents to help walk kids to the spot. We don’t know our staging area just yet. But we usually have a shade tent so look for that. This is probably the best drop off spot.

Pick up– please plan to pick up your gymnast near the BMO Harris at the end of the route (Behind/Kitty Corner) from Sendiks. Please be prompt. I would park your vehicle somewhere near there so gymnasts don’t need to walk all the way back to the parade start.

We could use about 4-5 parents to help with waters and brochures and rounding up children. Let Amy know if you can help! You must be dressed in Wildcard Apparel.

There is NO practice Monday night, 5/27/24!
